Nevertheless, there are a couple of interesting developments to note:
- There was movement among the top 5. Despite suffering the biggest upset loss of the year, Harvard HS moved into the top spot with their win at the second half of the Cal Swing. Michigan KM remains second, but they trail Harvard by only 2 points in adjusted rating. UC Berkeley SW jumped to 3rd by winning the first half of the Cal Swing and performing quite well at the second half as well. UC Berkeley MS fell from the top spot all the way to 4th, and MSU TS fell from 3rd to 5th. MSU's fall is somewhat surprising given they had semis and finals appearances at the swing. In fact, their rating actually did improve fairly substantially. The explanation for their fall lies in the fact that they were simply passed by Harvard & Cal SW, who had even better performances than they did.
- Other notable performances include Emory KS, who, despite moving up only one spot, made substantial gains in closing the gap with the top 5. Southern California SS jumped all the way up to 12th based on an excellent Cal Swing. Their ratings point gain was the largest of anybody in the top 100. The second largest point gain came from Trinity RS, who leapt from 30th to 14th. Finally, we also saw major improvements from Liberty BC, Michigan MD, Georgia AR, Kansas KR, Harvard AM, and Wichita State OS.
